    AAPP - The $41,000 income would have been a great income 25+ years ago, but with inflation running 2 to 3% per year, medical costs jumped just in the last few years and all the cut backs in programs ( slashed federal and state funds for the community action programs basically eliminated them ). This isn't just about families with female heads of housholds any longer. Then you must remember that the jobs that paid a good wage went over seas. The steel mills that paid a great wage with few skills are silent now. Detroit that at one time produced 25% of GDP is on life support. Those jobs required little education yet gave a family wage. I think that is why Obama is pushing for renewable energy technology. It will require labor and education at all levels. You have to assume that the bulk of the workforce is not going to have a college degree.
