It was an inspirational speech. But,there is a great deal of work to be done. Obama needs to get his message out and stay on the offensive. A good target for his message are the young of the religious right because they are starting to question the motives and outcomes of the policies of the last eight years. They too are seeing that opportunities are starting to dry up with bank failures, lay offs, factory closings and jobs going overseas. They are not as set in their beliefs as their parents. You will note that this is the first time in a couple of decades that the 18 to 20 somethings have been involved in politics.
Another very important issue is to make sure that people get to vote and that their votes count. We saw the dirty tricks of the last two elections i.e. closing the polls even though there was a line of people waiting to vote and of course the phoney phone campaign telling voters to vote on the wrong day. Then there's the voter registration issue. That information needs to get out or we'll have more of the same. If you think Rove has slithered away after he left the White House think again. He's in the background.
